Punjab Police has a pervasive organisational structure.

D.G.P. Headquartered at Chandigarh along with his secretarial staff including Administration, Intelligence, Security, Crime & Forensic Science Laboratory, Provisioning and Technical Services Wing. |

The state is divided into Eight Ranges namely Patiala, Bathinda, Ferozepur, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Border, Rupnagar Range and Faridkot Range, each range is headed by IGsP |
|
Presently Punjab has 24 Police Districts headed by SSsP and Three
Commissionerates headed by IGsP/DIGs. |
|
|
Punjab Police also have an contingent of Armed Battalions consisting of eight Punjab
Armed Police (PAP) Battalions, seven Battalions of India Reserve
Battalions (IRB) and five Battalions of Commandos.
